Project Costing in Zymmr

The project costing feature in Zymmr allows you to manage and track the costs associated with your projects effectively. Here's how you can use this feature:

Steps to Manage Project Costs

  1. Choose the Project:

    • Select the project for which you want to manage costs.
  2. Access Project Settings:

    • On the right side, click the Project Settings icon.
    • Choose the "Costing" item from the menu.
  3. Costing Dashboard:

    • Project Resource Costs: Displays costs in terms of the hourly rate.
    • Pie Chart: Shows the overall budget and the expenses.
    • Expenses Table: Shows expenses in daily, weekly, and monthly views.
  4. Adding the Budget:

    • Choose the "Budget" menu.
    • Enter the budget amount and select the corresponding currency.
  5. Maintaining Resource Cost:

    • Add a Resource: Select a resource who has been added to the project.
    • Resource Tier Details: Inherited from the resource's profile.
    • Hourly Rate: Enter a different hourly rate if the resource cost is specific to the project.
  6. Resource Expenses:

    • Menu Item: Click on "Resource Expenses."
    • Cost Calculation: Shows the cost of resources based on the time expended (timelog * resource cost).
  7. Adding Project Expenses:

    • Click on the "Expense" item.
    • Add project expenses and enter the associated costs.

Example Use Case

  1. Scenario:

    • You need to manage the costs for the "Website Redesign" project, including resource costs and overall project expenses.
  2. Steps:

    1. Choose the Project: Select "Website Redesign."
    2. Access Project Settings: Click the Project Settings icon and select "Costing."
    3. View Dashboard: Check the pie chart for the overall budget and expenses, and review the expenses table in the desired time view (daily, weekly, monthly).
    4. Add Budget: Enter the project's budget and select the currency.
    5. Manage Resource Costs: Add team members, specify their hourly rates if different from the default, and ensure the resource costs are updated.
    6. Review Resource Expenses: Look at the "Resource Expenses" menu to see costs based on time logs.
    7. Add Other Expenses: Enter any additional project expenses under the "Expense" item.

By utilizing the project costing feature in Zymmr, you can accurately track and manage your project's financials, ensuring that you stay within budget and have a clear understanding of where your resources are being allocated.
